This video was produced by the Tides foundation and is being shown in many government schools around the nation. I hardly know where to begin exposing the errors in “The Story of Stuff.” This video is packed full of inaccurate facts and skewed statistics that teach our children a false view of America. I could go on (maybe in a future post). For now, watch this segment and notice that at 2:10 Annie Leonard teaches the children that its the government’s job to take care of us. I would prefer that my children learn the role of government from the Constitution and Bill of Right as opposed to the Tides Foundation and Annie Leonard.
I took a quick look at the Tides website and noticed their mission statement:
Our mission is to partner with philanthropists, foundations, activists, and organizations across the country and across the globe to promote economic justice, robust democratic processes, and the opportunity to live in a healthy and sustainable environment where human rights are preserved and protected.
I hope most people will recognize that the term “economic justice” as a politically correct way of saying redistribution of wealth. My children are not being groomed into good little comrades. They are learning to love their county. They are learning of their responsibility to take care of themselves. They are learning that hard work and profitable employment is what they should look to for their fmaily’s support, not their (supposedly) rich Uncle Sam.
